First Aid at Work Course – Classroom Based

The First Aid at Work (statutory) course complies with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Successful students receive certificates to show that they are qualified to be First Aiders in the workplace for the next three years.

Who should attend

  • A person who has been designated as a First Aider at work. All employers in the UK have a legal obligation to make First Aid provision for their employees
  • Close protection operatives, security guards, door supervisors and all those working in the security industry

Course syllabus

  • Accidents and illness
  • Using a first aid kit
  • Simple record keeping
  • Treatment of an unresponsive patient
  • Heart attacks
  • Resuscitation including the basics of defibrillation (AED)
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Fractures
  • Seizures
  • Asthma
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Eye injuries
  • Low blood sugar
  • Fainting

Course duration

  • Eighteen hours excluding breaks
  • Courses are normally run over three seven-hour days but other combinations are available, such as six three-hour evenings etc.
  • Weekend courses are available for your group

Course dates

  • Closed courses can be held at your site for your group of up to 12 students at times and date to suit you.

Assessment

  • Continuous assessment by trainer
  • Multiple choice question paper which can be taken verbally

Fire Warden / Fire Marshal Course

This course is designed for employees who have a responsibility for fire safety in the workplace.

The aim of the course is for Fire Wardens to have greater understanding of the fire risks in the workplace and be able to carry out company procedures. They will learn about fire, the way in which it spreads and the way to fight fire.

Anaphylaxis Awareness Course

The aim of this short course is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of anaphylaxis and the administration of adrenaline drug devices such as Epipen, EURneffy and Jext.

Who should attend

  • People responsible for the care of a person with Anaphylaxis

  • Recognition of Anaphylaxis
  • First Aid Treatment of Anaphylaxis
  • Administration of adrenaline auto-injector (Jext & Epipen)
  • Administration of adrenaline nasal spray (EURneffy)
  • Preparing for the inclusion of the anaphylactic person

Course duration

  • 3 hours (excluding breaks)
  • Courses can be held during weekends or evenings as well as during weekdays

Assessment

  • Continuous assessment by trainer

Certificate

  • A MGM Training certificate which is valid for one year, will be awarded on successful completion of the course

Automated External Defibrillation Course

Automated External Defibrillation Course

More than one hundred and fifty thousand people die from cardiac arrests in the United Kingdom every year. Some could be saved if their heart could be defibrillated (stopped by electrocution and then restarted) within five minutes. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can increase the chance of survival from 5% to 80%.

Who should attend

  • Those who are cardiopulmonary resuscitation trained and wish to further their skills to the next level
  • Those who wish to requalify their skill (we suggest annual requalification)

  • How to use an Automated External Defibrillator

Paediatric First Aid EYFS Course – Classroom based

Paediatric First Aid Course – Classroom based

This Paediatric First Aid course was originally designed in conjunction with the National Childminders Association (now PACEY) and Preschool Learning Alliance specifically for those working with young children. It is the full Paediatric First Aid course as detailed in both the Childminder and Group Settings versions of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is therefore the qualification accepted by OFSTED when inspecting registered childcare settings.

This course will be based in the classroom with no e-learning component.  (We do have a blended classroom/e-learning option available – please click here to see the blended option)

  • This course meets the requirements of the 2025 Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for the (full) Paediatric First Aid Course and is therefore suitable for those in OFSTED approved Childcare Settings
