Automated External Defibrillation
Requalification

More than one hundred and fifty thousand people die from cardiac arrests in the United Kingdom every year. Some could be saved if their heart could be defibrillated (stopped by electrocution and then restarted) within five minutes. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can increase the chance of survival from 5% to 80%.

Who should attend
* Those who are cardiopulmonary resuscitation trained and wish to further their skills to the next level

What they will learn
* How to use an Automated External Defibrillator

Course content
* CPR Revision  * Recovery position   * Heart attacks  * Getting to know the AED (any type)
* Operating the AED  * Patient hand-over to medics/ambulance crew

Course Duration
* 4 hours

Assessment
* Practical final assessment

Certificate
* A certificate, valid for 12 months, is issued on successful completion of assessment
